LETTING GO part 1

Unbeknownst to us we hold onto stuff that is hindering us in our lives or development. Oftentimes we are not aware of it or refuse to acknowledge it. Sometimes we are in denial, because it’s easier or makes us feel better. Whatever the reason, the stuff we hold onto is ballast in our lives and it is slowing us down. We might be holding onto some, or all, of the following categories:

  • People
  • Places
  • Things
  • Emotions & feelings
  • Ideas & beliefs
  • Disease
  • Stress

Usually whatever we are holding onto creates a negative feeling in us because we hold on from fear. It efficiently closes the door on expansion. We need to let go. Whatever we are holding on to, it’s always lodged in the past;

  • “I know what I have but I don’t know what I’ll get”

Consider yourself as an energetic being for a moment; you have 100% of energy to use every day and this will be distributed within your being. Everything costs energy and this will be taken from your 100%, including old stuff that should be long gone. So if you use up, say 40%, of your overall energy just for the ballast, you have reduced your daily “income” with 60%. This is like having a massive energy-leak in your home and constantly, unnecessarily, paying that bill.

We all grow up with certain mindsets from our families or society; they lodge in the sub-conscious mind and rule how we live our lives. Religion, trauma, misunderstandings all “keep us in our place”. Usually those who are the closest to us are the ones most opposed to any change you choose to do, because if you change this will automatically create change in them and they are not ready for that. Every single person I have ever worked with on this issue say the same thing; “My …(parents, spouse, sister, friend) talked me out of it / don’t understand / don’t support…

We are not supposed to hang onto things, not even trauma. At one point we have to let it go. I wise man I know said; “It’s like walking up a mountain, dragging a dead horse. The horse is dead, let it go“. (I love this sentence)

Once I was asked by a friend to help her clear out her ridiculously full attic; I went over and we worked all day. At the end of the day we had 3 equal piles: To keep, Charity and Trash. At that point this friend started looking through the piles, changing her mind; “Oh, but I might need this one day, I can’t throw this away, oh,oh,oh, my memories, my life”. She put it all back in the attic. 2 years later she payed a fortune in moving fees AND storage, because her new home was too small to hold all the stuff!

I have met people who refuse to heal – consciously refused to heal, because they are afraid of what that change might bring. I have met people with childhood traumas who refuse to let them go and forever spend their time crying and wondering why life isn’t happening to them. I have met people who want to lose weight but won’t do the work…. One thing they all have in common is fear and self-pity; being a victim.

I have also met the above people who did the necessary changes; who passed the fear and self-pity and started to take charge of their lives, turning things around and feeling good about themselves, accepting whatever changes that came. There is no such thing as the proverbial silver spoon, there is only personal responsibility and the will to change.

Since this article is very long, I will post it in parts. Part 2 will come tomorrow.

KARMA IS WHAT GOES AROUND

The idea of karma is known by all, although it’s not always called Karma. In the bible it says; ” you reap what you sow “. In daily talk; “What goes around comes around” or “Every good deed deserves another” (that actually goes for bad deeds as well ūüôā ). Sometimes I wonder if we really hear or think about what we say…

If we would always live our lives according to the idea of Karma a lot would change, especially for ourselves. In each moment, each situation, there is a choice and upon what we choose a decision is made. Decision creates action and action creates a re-action. When we change a decision we change the whole chain of events. Sometimes the re-action might be a long time coming, but it always comes, and at that moment we are usually very aware of that first creative decision. It is like getting the answer to a question once asked, you always remember the question when the answer comes.

I look very closely at what comes into my life;¬† the re-actions – because they define my actions and decisions. Sometimes life hands me a slap and I feel sad, maybe unfairly treated, but when I step past this initial negative feeling I can see why this happened to me and how I created it. Then I make sure not to do it again. It is like burning your hand on the fire; you don’t do that again! The same goes for all that wonderful and positive stuff that happens. We are not lucky or unlucky; we are experiencing Karma, our own creation; our Selves.

INTENTION BUILDS BRIDGES

Intention is the moving force of everything we do. It is the force that builds the bridge between where we are and where we are going. We might have a mental idea of what we want to create, but if it doesn’t fit with the intention, things will go wrong or they will not happen. We need to stop and scrutinize our intention in what we do, because it’s not always obvious. This is most important in goal-setting; not just what we want, but also why we want it.

I talked with a friend and she spoke of something she wanted to create. The idea was clear, but the format unclear. We realized that there could be no clear format, since what she wants to do has never been done. She has to allow the format to create itself from her intention. Sometimes the goal is not clear, and that is when intention will kick in to make it happen. Nobody wakes up one morning with amazing new ideas fully formed.

As you all know, I work also as a therapist and clients come to me for all kinds of reasons. The first thing I do is to listen to them and help them clarify their needs. Then I work with them. At this point I sort of “tune-out” my personal self. My intention is clear; do for this person the best I can. It has nothing to do with me, and by tuning out myself I become a much clearer channel for whatever is needed. If I get personally involved (with thoughts, ideas and emotions based on my experiences) I will influence the treatment to fit my wants, not what is best for the client. This, I might add, took quite some years to learn and accomplish.

We are almost constantly ruled by our emotions; think about it: If we feel good, we think positively and our intentions will be colored by this, the same goes for the opposite. My children used to sometimes pick fights with me, for no reason at all, just for the fun of it. I always fell into the trap and ended up feeling terrible, until one day when I realized that this was not necessary, so I just started to say no to these fights. The only thing that kept me from falling into their devious little traps was the intention that it was not going to happen. To this day (20 somewhat years later) my children still say that I can never be brought into a fight, no use even trying. My intention was stronger than theirs. Ha!

Try it out, my friends, and please tell me what you discover. I love hearing comments.

THE OBSERVER EFFECT

I stumbled upon this blog today, and I found it really interesting, if you are interested in physics, take a look. I found this film and decided to share it with you  Рthe observer effect. It ties in nicely with what I have earlier written about thought-patterns and creative thought. Tell me what you think.

CREATIVE FORCES

pillars of creationHow do we create our lives / world? And with what motive or emotion? Do we create from fear or lust?

There is great talk and worry around the idea of 21 Dec 2012…according to the Mayan calendar. A lot of people believe this to be Armageddon (again) and that Earth will be wiped out, including, of course, humanity. If you take a look at the Mayan calendar system it clearly shows a cyclic belief; when something ends, something else begins. Maybe their belief is that this just starts all over, OR that this is the time for the next calendar revision since a new time is coming?

The Mayans aren’t the only culture speaking of 2012 as a special year, also Nostradamus speculated about this particular year.¬† “The book of revelation” in the Bible is dusted off to present another view of these tidings: All what we know will fall apart, creating turmoil and suffering – only to be followed by a new dawning of consciousness, bringing Love and Truth.

So back to my original question: I believe thoughts are creative, that thoughts are vibrational and attractive in nature. Thoughts are movement and movement is creation. So with what kind of thought-patterns do we create our lives?

Most of us are programmed to fear; poverty, hunger, death, disease, pain, heart-ache, failure…on and on. From this basic programming we create our lives…to survive but nothing else. This is why we as humanity are falling apart, destroying our world and each-other. The biggest and most powerful of all creations from fear is money and the banking system…isn’t it interesting that is seems to be falling apart…¬† The biggest fear to mankind is to not have enough. Well, there is enough, plenty enough for everybody.

I believe this is the time of Creative Change; The beginning of a new belief-system, the heightening of awareness. It is time to create the world from lust instead of fear. Fear is believing the world is going under in 2012, Lust is believing in a world-change in 2012. This said, people might still die, there might be pestilence and raging storms…I don’t know. But if there are, they will be the result of creating from fear. Something always has to go to make place for the new – Death and Birth.

BEING PRESENT

meditateBeing present or being in the now, is something I have been working on for very long, and it is really not that easy. We think we are present most of the time, but we actually hardly ever are. As I already mentioned in another posting; we judge everything based on something we already know, keeping us in the past or in the future. The present is a constant moment Рit has no time. Everything is fresh and new Рa possibility of learning or enjoying or maybe even suffering Рyes, suffering is also part of being. All emotions are a learning experience, and the now is constantly loaded with possibilities. Changes are now, learning is now, experiencing is now, tasting, touching, seeing, smelling is now. When we are in the past we feel regret and when we are in the future we feel fear.                                                                                                                                                                                 We are constantly searching for our future, looking here, looking there Рand the future always seem to elude us since it never comes; Each future moment becomes the present, at which point we completely miss it since we are still searching for the future. In a way we are living like slaves to our emotions; constantly struggling to go forward without ever stopping to reap the rewards.

When my children were small they had their favorite movie which they would watch over and over again, days – even weeks – on end. Each time they watched this movie it was like they saw it for the first time. This is being in the present. I used to watch them, mesmerized by their intense joy over something – to me – “worn down”. I was always in the future; next meal, next day, next chore. I was so busy that I very seldom stopped only to exist. My children showed me how to do this. They were the reason I learned to stop, because the joy of watching them exist made me still. My children were always my greatest teachers.

The source of our creativity is stillness.

I am very good at handling horses, somehow I know inside what they are feeling, what they are about to do. I have never learned about horses and I am not a brilliant rider, but I do know how they tick. Why? When I was a child I had an enormous love for horses,¬† and on the farm where we lived summers and holidays there were horses in a field. I used to spend my days there, watching them. I would bring a book and sandwiches and just watch.¬† With time I started to move with the horses, being part of their flock and this is how I learned horses. I learned their “language” and I learned that every movement means something. I learned that horses exist only in the present and this is the key to good horsemanship – the present. Horses were always my teachers.

Everything in the Universe comes from within; every idea, creation, thought, knowledge. Each time I stay in the present I learn something valuable – priceless. The things I do, know and understand best were learned in these moments. I watch my surroundings while being in the present – this is how I learn. But I have to work on it all the time since I slide so easily into the future.
